Introduction
Light your way through the winter!! The 2010 Seoul Festival of Lights opens at the historic place of Gwanghwamun Square from December 11th to January 9th.
The festival features a majestic view of splendid colors of lights painting the buildings altogether around Gwanghwamun Square. World-renowned media artists from home and abroad produced the mega-scale show known as Media Façade. The facade of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts illustrates a panorama of 600-year history of Seoul (entitled "The Memory of Ours") while on the KB building the light of creation connecting art and cutting-edge technology unfolds showing the present and future of Seoul. Plus, the festival offers an extraordinary experience and pleasure to people allowing them to actually participate in the festival not only as a simple spectator but also as a producer of their own work of lights.
Starting with a lighting ceremony, throughout the festival, diverse hands-on programs, a photo-zone, and other special events are held in the square, adding to the delightful festivity of the season. At ice-skating rink in Gwanghwamun Square, numerous events such as figure skating show, fireworks or razor show, and ice sculpture exhibitions are held and visitors may also enjoy top spinning and an ice sled ride. This winter, at Seoul Plaza, a special hands-on experience center will open allowing visitors to explore the Antarctic Continent.
